Hello To, All My Dear Readers, My Followers and My Blogging Friends. ❤

Hope all of you are in Good Health and getting on in your lives well. Year 2024 has zoomed past and almost coming on to 2026. Today I am writing to say: Happy Birthday to Wikipedia as it is turning 25 years. I refer it often for information for my articles as well as knowledge that it is good to wish and Thank. Yes I did give a gift as well to celebrate. Volunteers from around the world, from all backgrounds and nationalities, choose to help us build this global encyclopedia each day. Wikipedia is now available in 326 languages and receives 5.67 edits every second Beyond the statistics, every edit and article reflects a human story of dedication, passion, and generosity https://www.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia in different languages so more people can create and access knowledge in their mother tongue.




Wikipedia is a free online multilingual encyclopedia written and maintained by a community of volunteers, known as Wikipedians, through open collaboration and the wiki software MediaWiki. Founded by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger in 2001, Wikipedia has been hosted since 2003 by the Wikimedia Foundation, an American nonprofit organization funded mainly by donations from readers.[2] Wikipedia is the largest and most-read reference work in history.

Wikipedia has been praised for enabling the democratization of knowledge, its extensive coverage, unique structure, and culture. Wikipedia’s volunteer editors have written extensively on a wide variety of topics, it has improved over time, receiving greater praise. Articles on breaking news are often accessed as sources for up-to-date information about those events.

Wikipedia was launched on January 15, 2001 (referred to as Wikipedia Day) as a single English language edition with the domain name http://www.wikipedia.com,[ and was announced by Sanger on the Nupedia mailing list. The name originated from a blend of the words wiki and encyclopedia.] Its integral policy of “neutral point of view” arose within its first year. Otherwise, there were initially relatively few rules, and it operated independently.

Wikipedia gained early contributors from Nupedia, Slashdot postings, and web search engine indexing. Language editions were created beginning in March 2001, with a total of 161 in use by the end of 2004. Nupedia and Wikipedia coexisted until the former’s servers were taken down permanently in 2003, and its text was incorporated into Wikipedia. The English Wikipedia passed the mark of 2 million articles on September 9, 2007, making it the largest encyclopedia ever assembled.

Articles for traditional encyclopedias such as Encyclopædia Britannica are written by experts, lending such encyclopedias a reputation for accuracy.

Hope All of You are keeping well and Happy. As usual I am keeping in Good Health and moving forward doing my usual, activities. Early life and education:
Gabriyal Perera Wickramarachchi (Sinhala: ජී. පී. වික්‍රමආරච්චි; 28 September 1889 – 29 March 1975) also known as Ayurveda Chakravarti Pandit Wickramarachchi was a distinguished eminent Ceylonese Ayurvedic physician, author, linguist, senator, lawyer (notary), lecturer and a philanthropist who founded Gampaha Siddhayurveda Vidyalaya which later became Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute of University of Kelaniya.

Wickramarachchi was born on 28 September 1889 in Nadungamuwa Gampaha as the third son of the family to (above) Velum Perera Wickramarachchi, an indigenous medical practitioner and his wife Sara Nona Dharmawathi. He received his primary education at Henegama Government School and secondary education at Uttharamulla Pirivena. He entered the Vidyodaya Pirivena in circa.1909 and graduated in oriental languages in 1913 with the title Rajakiya Pandit. In 1917 he sat for the notary exam and became a notary, in that same year he won a scholarship to Jamini Bhushan Ray Ashtanga Ayurvedic Vidyalaya in Calcutta. After three years of studying there he earned his degree of LAMS (Hons) in 1920 and the degree of Kaviranjan from Kaliya Ayurveda Bavan in 1921.

Pandit Wickramarachchi started his professional career at Gampaha and became the most brilliant Ayurvedic Physician at that era. He established Gampaha Siddhayurveda Vidyalaya in 1929 and maintained the Vidyalaya at his own expenses and no fees were charged from the students even for lodging. Pandit Wickramarachchi started the medicine factory attached to the Vidyalaya in the 1930s (1932 or 1934). Ayurveda Chakravarthi Pandith G. P. Wickramarachchi, the founder of Siddhayurveda Medical College, was born on the 20th September 1889. In 1917, he proceeded to Calcuatta Ashtanga Ayurveda Vidyalaya and studied there under Kaviraj Jamini Bhūshana Roy, one of the most eminent scholars of Ayurveda in India. He was graduated with L.A.M.S. degree (Bhishagratna). He founded this institute in his personal land in Yakkala. This was his Saying: in Ola Leaf!

February Birthstone ~ 2025!

Hope You are keeping well. Today I am going to write about the Birthstone for February ❤

If you were the one to be born in February then you would have a choice of at least 3 birthstones to pick from: Amethyst being a month birthstone, February birthstone – Jasper, February special birth rock – Red Garnet. In addition to the mentioned gemstones, Jade is also eligible for February list as Pisces birthstone, and Serpentine is a February birthstone according to one of the alternative birthstone lists.
The English word jade is derived (via French l’ejade and Latin ilia ‘ from the Spanish term piedra de ijada.

Introduction to February birthstones

Plenty of birthstones, right? Which one should you choose? Well, it may be the gem that reflects your personality, it may be the birthstone that you feel most connected to, it may be the birth gem that you like the most or that suits you better, or it may be all of them. In other words, it’s totally up to you! Humans were always intrigued about possessing a gemstone that is more than just a gem. A rock with spiritual connection, something close to our heart.

Most birthstone are gemstones or the gems from the foundation. I have used the 4 most relevant and interesting in my opinion charts of birthstones: by birth month.

Jade

Pisces astral birth gemstone – February 19 to Feb 29 birthdays

Many astrologists believe that zodiac signs dates slightly overlap and share common properties, and that means that Pisces born on February 16, 17 and 18 can also use Jade as their birthstone.  

Jade is a famous green birthstone that comes in two major varieties – nephrite and jadeite. Jade with rich emerald-green color hue is often called ‘Imperial jade’. This gem though exists and various other colors like yellow, black, purple, red, orange, white etc. This birthstone has been known to humans for thousands of years. It had the meaning of ‘king’ and was a symbol of high rank and authority. This gem was widely used. Jade is considered to be a symbol of love.

To summarize February birthstones, provide a fair line of beautiful gems for you to pick from! For example, February 14 birthstone is amethyst, jasper and red garnet are and special birth gems. January Birthstone ~ 2025!

Hope You are keeping well. Today I am going to write about the Birthstone for January. January major and alternative birthstones are Garnet, Onyx and Jasper. In addition to that Amethyst, the Aquarius birth gem, and Chalcedony, a Capricorn birthstone, can be considered. All January birthstones make up a choice of at least 4 gems.

Introduction to January birthstones

Out of all those magnificent gemstones, which one you should pick? Well, it may be the gem that reflects your personality, it may be the birthstone that you feel most connected to, it may be the birth gem that you like the most or that suits you better, or it may be all of them. In other words, the choice is ultimately yours!

We are always intrigued about possessing a gemstone that is more than just a gem. A rock with connection, something close to our heart. Most birthstone lists are based on gemstones or the gems from the foundation I have used the 4 most unique arrangements of birthstones: by birth month, birthstones, by zodiac sign, and special birthstones list.

Garnet’s name comes from Latin ‘granatus’ meaning ‘grain like’ because it resembles pomegranate blossom. Garnets are found in many parts of the world and were known to people centuries ago. This January birthstone’s usual color is the one that resembles ruby – red, though this gem also comes in hues of green, orange, rose, violet and cinnamon brown. 

One of the rarest Garnets is called Emerald. This gem is emerald, green color and has a spectacular brilliance. In Siberia it was thought that it was a gem of love. It was also believed that this birthstone could enhance foresight and bring fortune.

Onyx

January guardian angel birth rock – January 1 to January 31 birthstone

Birthstone onyx derives its name from a Greek word meaning ‘fingernail’. Why would a gemstone be called a ‘fingernail’? Well, according to an old legend, Cupid, the god of desire and affection, found Venus, the goddess of love, sleeping on the bank of the river. He cut Venuses’ nails with a sharp point of his arrow. In mysticism, this was interpreted as a symbol of the mystery of birth that happened as a result of pure love.

Onyx is one of the earliest gems appears in ancient writings. It was often used in of adventurers because it was believed to have the powers of protection .The birthstone was regarded as the gem providing spiritual inspiration Greek, Roman and other ancient lapidaries tried to cut the gemstone in a way to display its fascinating patterned lines, Gem cut in that manner was considered a powerful protection

Onyx is a banded variety of chalcedony quartz mineral. The gem is found in the United States, Brazil, Madagascar, and other places. Onyx has been used in jewelry sets of many famous people/

Jasper

January special apostle birthstone – birthdays between January 1 and 31

Jasper stone signifies the divine truth. Jasper is a variety of quartz and does come and various colors like green, red, orange, black, yellow, blue etc. and combinations of them. Some of these combinations are fascinating, and skilled jewelers make jasper earrings or produce necklaces in a way that compliments the intricacy of this birthstones’ patterns.

Chalcedony

Capricorn birth gem – January 1 birthstone to January 21 birthstone

Some astrologists think that for start and end dates zodiacal signs share common virtues of the preceding or following sign meaning that for Aquarius with birthdays on January 22, 23 and 24 it may be appropriate to have Chalcedony as their birth gem too.

The name of the gemstone originates from a place called Chalkedon in present day Turkey. Chalcedony was not recognized as a separate gem variety until though it was widely used thousands of years believed to have possessed the wisdom that was passed from the ancient times, regarded chalcedony as a symbol of enthusiasm. It was thought to protect travelers in their voyages.

Amethyst

Zodiac briefly overlap when they change one another, and several astrologists think that if you are a Capricorn born on January 19, 20 or 21 you may also have Amethyst as your birthstone. Amethyst was used in rings and peace and popularized amethyst as a sacred symbol of pure love. amethyst rings or amulets to use the birthstone powers of preserving affections. Amethysts were also considered to give calmness to athletes.
