Psychology ~ Learning!

Hello To, All My Readers Followers and Blogging Friends ❤

I hope all of you are keeping well. Today I thought of writing about Psychology of Learning. I hope You all will like and learn some new information also.

What is the psychology of learning?

The psychology of learning encompasses a range of topics focused on how people learn and how they interact with the environments in which they learn. It is generally defined as a relatively permanent change in behaviour as a result of experience. The psychology of learning helps researchers, educators and employers understand learning processes and how they work. Psychologists agree that different methods of learning exist, and some people may find certain learning methods easier than others. Differentiating between the approaches to learning can help you understand how the environment can influence the way people learn.

What is the psychology of learning?

The psychology of learning is a field of science that encompasses theories about how psychology relates to the ways people learn. Scientists have created many theories about learning based on different disciplines, including:

  • Behaviorism
  • Neuroscience
  • Social cognition
  • Social constructivism

What is psychology in theory of learning?

Learning theory in psychology attempts to understand what influences knowledge accumulation, retention, and development over time. While there are many theories, the five main learning theories are behavioral, cognitive, constructive, social, and experiential. Have you ever heard of the learning theory? The learning theory describes how to retain knowledge during learning. Cognitive, emotional, and environmental influences shape a person’s worldview. Behaviorists see learning as an effect of conditioning and an advocate system throughout their education. Obtaining knowledge should be a unique and productive experience for everyone.

What is behavioral learning theory?

Behavioral learning theory, the first and most prominent perspective of the psychology of learning, is a concept that focuses on how observable events in a person’s external environment impact how they learn new behaviors. Early behaviorists looked for an alternative to relying on internal feelings and memories to describe how and why people learn the way they do. They felt a measurable, observable method would make studying the topic more approachable and reliable. It is to advance the theory, and to implement behavioral learning techniques

A style of learning refers to an individual’s preferred way to absorb, process, comprehend and retain information. The most simple way of describing ‘learning styles’ is to say that they are different methods of learning or understanding new information, the way a person takes in, understand, expresses and remembers information. There are 4 predominant learning styles: Visual, Auditory, Read and Write, and (Kinaesthetic) kinesthetic is learning links the process of learning to physical activity. It is a learning style during which the learner has to feel or move in order to learn more effectively.

Concluding Comments

The behaviorist perspective was historically a main line of development in the psychology of learning and played a significant role in the study of language learning in the 1950s and 1960s. The cognitive perspective became influential in research on learning and cognition in the 1970s, while recent developments like connectionism and sociocognitive (Think of a time that you have learned a skill or behavior from observing another person) research continue to vitalize the study of language learning. The sociocultural perspective is the youngest of the three, but defines an area of educational research with vital activity during the last decades.

In their broad review of the field of learning and cognition, and to discuss potential future developments and relationships between these theoretical perspectives. One possibility is that the different views will live side by side, complementing each other and analyzing processes of learning at different levels. Another possibility is a somewhat more competitive relation among the perspectives, in which one perspective can provide a kind of synthesis of the others. One theoretical question for the study of how language is learned and how it impacts literacy and academic learning will be the continuing clarification of relations among research perspectives.

Psychology ~ Willpower!

Hello To All My Readers, Followers and Blogging Friends ❤

I hope all of you are keeping well, as usual. Today I thought of writing about Psychology of Willpower.

Introducing Willpower

Willpower is the driving force in hopeful thinking. Willpower is a reservoir of determination and commitment that we can call on to help move us in the direction of the goal to which we are attending at any given moment. It is made up of thoughts such as I can, I’ll try, I’m ready to do this, and I’ve got what it takes. Willpower is more easily ignited when we can clearly understand and represent a goal in our minds. Vague goals, therefore, do not provide the mental spark to get us moving. Once people clarify their goals, they often are filled with active and empowering thoughts.

Willpower has many sides (facets). The following mind map lists nine of the most important ones – none is more important than the other and there is no hierarchy (A hierarchy is an arrangement of items that are represented as being “above”, “below”, or “at the same level as” one another. Wikipedia

So how do these psychological factors – motivation, attention, and mindset – play out to impact someone’s level of self-control? Motivation impacts a person’s willpower by influencing how to persuade (enticed) they feel to behave in a certain way. In other words, once you’ve used your willpower to do something that requires self-control, you are less likely to want to use your willpower to the same extent again. morning meetings aren’t your favorite way to start the day, so you exert a great deal of effort to stay focused and make sure you’re a contributing member of the group. After the meeting is complete, you don’t feel motivated to show the same sense of willpower again. This discovery that motivation plays a part in our willpower doesn’t signal the end of willpower as we know it. Instead, try learning to recognize the not good feelings that come with a lack of motivation. Willpower is an incredibly effective tool for achieving your goals and we hope these new insights will help you take advantage of it even better.

Willpower is necessary to complete many trying tasks. If you want to achieve certain career goals, willpower is important (vital). There are ways you can work on increasing your willpower over time. Set goals for yourself, have follow through, and make lifestyle changes to strengthen your resilience. Start with baby steps. For instance, if you know it will be virtually impossible for you to keep your willpower in check to focus for 4 hours straight – try focusing for an hour with the idea that you’ll build on that over time. As you experience success, your confidence will grow and you can start dedicating larger and longer blocks of time to your most important work. You can see from the picture down “Various ways of how to make use to have “Will Power” Read and see what You can do. I have given the “Meanings of almost all the difficult words also 🙂

Self-discipline is a concept that everyone is familiar with, but very few actually understand. While self-discipline is most often associated with willpower and perseverance, it also means that you have the courage, strength, wisdom, and moral character to do what’s right — even if it’s difficult.

Do You Have the Discipline to Do What’s Right?

You have choices every day — to be true to yourself or bend to peer pressure; to live within your means or shop to your heart’s content; to control your desires or give in to temptation. It all comes down to self-discipline. See above and Below. Do you:

  • Make yourself proud.
  • Think for yourself to popular opinion?
  • Defend your beliefs and your principles?
  • Adopt a can-do attitude.
  • Live within your means.
  • Own your life become Independent.
  • Invest in your future.
  • Compose yourself during tough times.
  • Set the bar high or in at least moderation.
  • Celebrate others’ success.
  • Focus on your priorities.
  • Forgive and forget.
  • Make decisions based on facts.
  • Let things go.
  • Stay true to yourself.
  • Deal with problems.
  • Adopt a healthy lifestyle.
  • Invest in your personal growth.
  • Accept personal responsibility.
  • Give selflessly to others what you can.
  • Self-Discipline Is Good for You
  • Most people view self-discipline as the ability to test their limits or the willpower. Do you view self-discipline as as something positive?
  • Self-discipline is a gift.
  • Self-discipline means you have the determination, inner strength, and fortitude to do what’s right — even if it’s difficult. That may require you to speak up when others are silent, search for the truth when others jump to decisions (conclusions), question the status when things are set in stone, hold firm when others go (cave) in, find where all fit in (common ground) when others won’t compromise, or sacrifice something today so that you can benefit tomorrow. It’s not always easy to do what’s right. That’s what makes it so special.
  • Self-discipline is a sign of inner strength. You show (demonstrate) it by your willingness to accept personal responsibility, your ability to make (hard) difficult choices, and your determination to live your life with honor. The fact is that you begin life with a empty page (blank canvas). Your choice is to set the bar high and live with integrity. I hope you choose the path that makes you proud.
  • Do You Have the Discipline to Do What’s Right?

What does it mean to have Resilient Willpower?

Every now and then you will come across unique individuals who have an insatiable desire and strength to persist despite the obstacles that stand in their way. No matter what happens to them they just keep moving forward with unshakable confidence and self-belief. These individuals seem to have no limitations and no weaknesses, in fact, they seem somewhat superhuman. However, the truth is they are just like you and me. They have fears, limiting habits and quirky behaviors that make them uniquely human. Nevertheless, they accept their weaknesses for what they are and yet still have the resilience and willpower to overcome any obstacle or problem that stands in their way.
Every now and then you will come across unique individuals who have a need (desire) and strength to persist despite the obstacles that stand in their way. No matter what happens to them they just keep moving forward with unshakable confidence and self-belief. These individuals seem to have no limitations. in fact, they seem somewhat superhuman. However, the truth is they are just like you and me. They have habits that make them uniquely human. Nevertheless, they accept themselves for what they are and yet still have the resilience and willpower to overcome any obstacle, or problem that stands in their way.

These individuals realize that their only limitations are the limitations of their mind. And so they develop their mind on a daily basis ensuring that it is in prime condition to help them do, be, have and achieve whatever it is that their heart desires. With practice and time, it can be conditioned to perform seemingly remarkable feats that strengthen the body and our emotional resolve. In fact, your mind is the one and primary key that will help you develop unstoppable resilience and willpower in the face of difficulties (adversity).

How to Develop Your Resilient Willpower

Having resilience and willpower is about finding the inner strength to overcome, taking a long time (procrastination), limiting habits and beliefs. Cultivating resilience and willpower is about having the courage to make the toughest of decisions in the face of difficulties (adversity). Resilience and willpower is about completing actions that are aligned with your objectives despite the problems and setbacks that stand in your way, and regardless of the resistance, difficulties, and discomfort that is taking (pulling) you back into your what you are used to (comfort zone). Living with resilience and willpower is about learning to adapt to changing conditions and to difficult and not sure (unpredictable) circumstances. Having resilience and willpower is about bouncing straight back up after the worst setbacks you have ever experienced.

Cultivating resilience and willpower is about overcoming personal limitations that would normally stop you in your tracks and weaken you. Living with resilience and willpower is about personally rejecting the temptations of instant gratification. Having resilience and willpower is about cultivating the self-discipline needed to direct your focus, persist and commit to a desired outcome despite the chaos and adversity that is trying to rip you apart in multiple directions. Yes, this resilient willpower thing does seem somewhat serious (complex,) and yet it is within this process that the answers you are looking for can be found.

Cultivating Resilience and Willpower

Just like a farmer needs to cultivate his Vegetables or Fruits (crop) throughout the year, we must also be prepared to cultivate the necessary skills, beliefs, qualities, and actions that are required to strengthen our resolve and grow the superhuman powers of a resilient individual. You can see from the picture down about Farming and how it helps 🙂

Required Skills

Resilience and willpower require us to learn to think creatively when under intense pressure from outside circumstances. It requires us to master control over our emotions under all conditions. It requires us to become more socially aware of others and self-aware of ourselves and our own personal ways. ((tendencies) Resilience and willpower require us to learn to Make it important (prioritize) our time effectively, to manage our levels of stress and learn to make better decisions.

Indispensable Beliefs

Having Resilience and willpower requires an inner strength, confidence and a self-belief. Hence for that reason, resilient willpower requires us to cultivate beliefs that will naturally makes us strong.

Critical Traits

Resilience and willpower require us to cultivate certain and specific traits that will help to solidify the foundational building blocks of our psychology. These traits will not only shape how we think, but they will also influence every decision and action we take and consequently the results we create.

Ambition

Resilience and willpower require ambition to reach the highest peaks, to sail the seas and to fly. In fact, ambition will allow us to see beyond our present moment, providing us with a long-term perspective that will motivate, inspire and push us forward to ever greater accomplishments.

Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm is that keeps our spirits high in the face of uncertainty and adversity. It strengthens our will to never give up, resists temptations while enabling us to see things from a new perspective.

Persistence and Determination

Resilience and willpower require us to persist despite the adversity that life throws our way. It requires us to persist with determination so that life has no choice but to give us what we want each and every day.

Childlike Curiosity

Curiosity opens doors that have been closed, windows that have been closed and opportunities that have been lying out-of-sight and out-of-reach for far too long. In fact, curiosity makes us (forces) us to ask better and more effective questions about our life and circumstances. This naturally forces us to think differently, to consider new understandings and gain unique perspectives.

Couple of man and woman having a question. Male and female characters standing in thoughtful pose holding chin and question marks above their head. Quarrel, doubts or interest in relationship. Vector

Optimism

Optimism is the light that keeps us moving forward. It is that shines brightly in the night sky giving (unveiling) hope for the present and the potential of a future that is yet to become.

Faith

Resilience and willpower require faith to believe in something that cannot be seen, cannot be touched — except in the mind. It is about believing in something that is physical yet imagined, real yet surreal. It is about believing in the power of creating something out of nothing despite the odds that are stacked against you.

Unshakable Self Discipline, Confidence, and Control

Resilience and willpower require self-discipline to focus wholeheartedly on what needs to get done; the confidence to push forward despite the problems that are pushing (weighing) you down, and the control to resist the distractions and temptations that life puts (throws) your way.

Smart Actions

In order to develop resilience and willpower, you must act with purpose in a active manner each and every day. At the same time your actions must be able to change (flexible) and adaptable to the changing conditions of your life, and most importantly they must be focused and directed at what you want to do, be, have and achieve. In the end, it doesn’t matter how you think. It’s within your actions that results are realized and opportunities are found.

The Indispensable Habits You Will Need

Habits are the cornerstone of our decisions and actions. They are pre-programmed behaviors that we have cultivated over an extended period of time. They define who we are and they can effectively predict what we will achieve today and in the future. Resilience and willpower require us to cultivate a set of unique habits that will enable you to persist and keep moving forward despite the obstacles and setbacks standing in our way.

Anticipate Problems

When you develop the ability to anticipate problems in advance, you can better prepare yourself for what’s yet to come. Some would say that the habit of anticipating problems in advance would turn you into a pessimist. That would be true if all you saw was problems on the horizon.

The key is to anticipate problems and look for solutions, answers, and opportunities that you can take advantage of if the problems do arise.

Acquire Necessary Resources

The habit of acquiring necessary resources in advance is critical to success because when you are confronted with setbacks, it’s the resources you have on hand that will determine how quickly and effectively you are able to overcome these obstacles.

Resilience can include skills, knowledge, information, tools, strategies, techniques, and support that you may need to help you move beyond difficult moments in your life. You must, therefore, anticipate your problems in advance, determine what solutions and opportunities these problems could present you with, and then acquire the necessary resources that will help you to take advantage of whatever life throws your way.

Accept Mistakes and Setbacks

Setbacks are only temporary stops along your journey that present you with an opportunity to learn from your experience and therefore make better and more effective decisions in the future.

Understand Self Intimately

You must get into the habit of discovering more about yourself each and every day. Get to know yourself intimately including your fears, levels of discomfort, emotions, weaknesses, and strengths. The more intimately you know yourself, the more intuitive you will become when making decisions and taking effective actions. Your actions will subsequently focus on your strengths while managing your weaknesses to ensure that they don’t get the better of you during decisive moments of your life.

Understand Opportunities for Growth

It is within the moments of greatest difficulty that presents us with the greatest opportunity to grow and develop ourselves on many (multiple) levels. And it is within these moments that you must become aware of your limitations — learning from them as you would about anything else to better prepare yourself for the future.

Keep An Open Mind

It is easy to become closed-minded when circumstances too much (overwhelm) you, when a series of decisions seem to be taking you nowhere, and when your dearest beliefs are tested in the face of adversity. It’s during times like these that you must think (outside the box) how you usually think and begin viewing things from a different way (perspective). And it is during times like these that you might need to start questioning your beliefs and that could very well be stopping (preventing) you from moving forward in life.

Keep Things Fun

When you are having fun doing what you love, life seems easy and carefree. You’re no longer have problems and setbacks and you see things from a more positive and optimistic perspective.

Keep Focused on the Present Moment

It’s important to have a long-term view of life. However, at the same time, it’s important to stay grounded in the present moment. problems and setbacks can become overwhelming very quickly if we view them from a wider global perspective. However, by focusing on the present moment Problems and setbacks can become overwhelming very quickly if we view them from a wider global perspective. However, by focusing on the present moment — on what you can control and do now — you are grounding yourself and this helps focus your mind on what’s most important right now that will make the biggest difference to your future.

Keep Moving Forward

When obstacles and setbacks get the better of you, it’s easy to step away. However, as you step back you must at the same time keep moving forward in other ways. Only through this type of effort will you maintain your level of momentum and motivation that will help pull you across the finish line.

Take Personal Responsibility

Those who cultivate resilience and willpower make good decisions for anything that they do. They fully understand that in order to achieve their objectives, that they must account for and take full responsibility for their decisions and actions at all times.

By taking responsibility for everything (the good, bad and the ugly) signifies that you are in control and in charge of your destiny. On the other hand, by not taking responsibility, you are in essence giving control away to events, people or circumstances that you simply lack the influence or skill to control. In the long-term, this substantially weakens your resolve and sets you on course for failure.

Resilience and willpower are built upon the foundations of taking massive action on a daily basis to achieve your goals and objectives. This action must, however, be focused and directed accordingly to maximize results, strengthen motivation while minimizing mistakes as much as possible.

Hesitate:

The moment you hesitate to make a decision or to take action is the moment you lose the momentum you have created. Likewise, you lose self-confidence in yourself and your own abilities, which can lead to doubt, procrastination and other limiting habits and emotions. This is not saying that you should take action despite the risks. What it is saying is that you must take calculated risks that are based on solid research and feedback.

Procrastinate:

  • Inspire you to get started … and to finally finish that project
  • Remind you to stop putting things off!
  • Help you to work out why you procrastinate
  • Encourage you to steal back your time
  • Give you the confidence to beat procrastination and pursue your goals

Procrastination is comprised of nothing more than a lot of excuses and imaginative stories that you tell yourself on a daily basis about how you can’t do one thing and instead prefer to do something else. It leads to a cycle of doubt, and insecurity that can stay for long time. Likewise, it halts the momentum you have created thus far along your journey towards the achievement of your goals and objectives.

Positives:

When fixated with problems and setbacks it’s easy to diminish (( to make it less) the good that has come as a result of your decisions and actions. These positives may, in fact, help unlock new answers and opportunities that will help you proceed along this journey. However, if you deny or don’t acknowledge the lessons you have learned, the solutions you have acquired or the indispensable experiences you have gained along the way, then you may very well be denying yourself the very chance to make the “wrongs” right again.

Negatives:

When things go wrong unexpectedly, it’s easy to become worried of our decisions and actions. Moreover, when we get our imaginations involved in the process, we can turn the seemingly negatives to positives. Within every negative circumstance, their lies a positive outcome that can be taken advantage of if you are patient and attentive to the details. So focus instead on amplifying the positives, and diminishing the negatives.

Give Up?

No matter what happens, never give up, never quit! Life is too short to stop halfway, and you never really know how close you are from reaching your desired outcome. It may seem so far, and yet it could only be a whisker away.

Make Assumptions:

Based on past experience — regarding what has worked or hasn’t worked for you before — it is easy to assume that nothing will change in the present. However, every circumstance and condition bring with it a unique set of variables, emotions, people, and events that are subtly different than they were before — meaning that new opportunities and solutions lie on the horizon waiting to be found.

Wilt Under Pressure?

When water starts to boil and when the steam begins to rise, most people wilt under the pressure and give up the fight. If most people wilt and you don’t, then I guess this means that you now have an unfair advantage over your opponents and access to a window of opportunity that may not present itself again.

Always Welcome Adversity:

When you learn to welcome adversity with enthusiasm, you harden yourself for the tough times that are still yet to come. Moreover, you begin to view the problems in your life with renewed confidence that provides you with a clearer perspective of the road that lies ahead.

Visualize Success and Reflect

By visualizing your eventual success and by taking the time to reflect on your experiences and mistakes, you effectively clarify what it is you want and resolve to improve the process that will get you there far more quickly than ever before. Furthermore, the process of visualization and self-reflection helps build the momentum you need to propel yourself forward through anything that stands in your way.

Clarify Desires and Benefits of Objectives

The process of clarifying your desires and the benefits of your objectives helps build enthusiasm, confidence, and motivation to achieve your goals despite the obstacles and challenges that life throws in your direction.

Always Seek Alternate Perspectives

Life is all about perspective. How you see the circumstances of your life is dependent upon your past experiences, memories and your current emotional state. This, therefore, suggests that what you see is only an interpretation of reality. And since it’s only an interpretation of how circumstances are in your life right now, you, therefore, have the power to consciously transform your perspective at any time and begin to see things in a far more (supportive) good way.

Act Upon Proven Facts

Fact or fiction? Knowing the difference between the two will significantly affect the outcomes resulting from your decisions and actions. Therefore you must make sure that you do not emotionalize events and circumstances in your life. Otherwise, you may find yourself basing your decisions on fiction over fact. Facts are proven things that have a place and position in time. Fictitious things, on the other hand, are opinions and ideas that cannot be proven or quantified.

Take Small and Progressive Steps Daily

Small and progressive steps daily are more effective than large steps taken occasionally. Momentum is created when you move forward consistently towards your goals and objectives. Alternatively, momentum is lost when you cycle through periods of action and procrastination. It not only robs you of your enthusiasm but also subdues your creativity.

Act Contrary to Limiting Beliefs and Habits

Your greatest challenges in life reveal to you your weaknesses and limitations. Simply by doing the opposite of your natural desires, you will open a door of opportunities and new understandings that you never had before.

Resist Unimportant Desires

Instant gratification is the desire to gain short-term pleasure that will often help you avoid short-term delays and long-term pleasure that is associated with the achievement of your goals and objectives. Furthermore, it will take (rob) you of your feelings that time that is important (critical) to your long-term success.

Build a Strong Sense of Purpose

A sense-of-purpose is built upon the foundations of a higher cause. It is something that defines who you are, where you’re going, and who you are seeking to become. With this purpose in mind, you will develop the necessary momentum to overcome anything and everything that stands in the way from achieving your goals and objectives.

Maintain a Solution Focused Attitude

When problems become the reality of life, it’s easy for us to find ourselves with what’s working. However, by focusing on what’s not working we naturally see of what is working. So instead, focus on finding answers and opportunities by maintaining a solution focused attitude.

Control Emotions and Reactions to the Unexpected

No matter how much we plan or account there will always be events and circumstances that will unexpectedly surface at some time. During these moments we must maintain our emotions By controlling our emotional responses, we maintain a clear mind and can, therefore, make more effective decisions.

Ask Effective Questions

Questions are intrinsically connected to our thoughts — our thoughts to our habits, our habits to our decisions, and our decisions to our actions. In fact, one simple yet effective question can immediately transform our perspective of our circumstances and create the momentum we need to achieve our goals and objectives.

Here are five important questions that will help you overcome the obstacles in your life:

How can I best overcome this?

How must I think differently?

What opportunities am I not seeing?

What is an alternate way of looking at this?

What resources could assist me here?

Ask for Help

Finally, when we have finished (exhausted) all our options we can still maintain our high levels of resilience and willpower in the face of adversity by simply asking for help. Whatever we can’t do for ourselves, others can do for us 🙂

Concluding Thoughts:

Developing resilience and willpower is just as much a journey of the mind as it is a journey of experience. The more often you use these skills, beliefs, traits, actions and strategies to overcome the obstacles and setbacks in your life, the stronger your resilience will become — helping you to create the momentum you need to manifest your desires and dreams into physical reality. However, when everything is said and done, remember that developing resilience and willpower will not happen overnight, but rather over time through a consistent and effort to transform your life forever. Being confident requires a realistic sense of one’s capabilities and feeling secure in that knowledge. Projecting confidence helps people gain credibility, make a strong first impression, deal with pressure, and tackle personal and professional challenges. It’s also an attractive trait, as confidence helps put others at ease.

It is a Very important Quality to Build Up and have “Confidence”. It means you accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life. You know your strengths and weakness well, and have a positive view of yourself. You set realistic expectations and goals, communicate assertively.

“Self Confidence is a Quality about Yourself having Confidence of yourself.t is a Very important Quality to Build Up and have “Self Confidence”. It means you accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life. You know your strengths and weakness well, and have a positive view of yourself. You set realistic expectations and goals, communicate assertively.

Having high or low self-confidence is rarely related to your actual abilities, and mostly based on your perceptions. Perceptions are the way your think about yourself and these thoughts can be changed

.

Psychology ~ Habits!

Hello To All My Readers Followers and Blogging Friends ❤

I  hope all of you are keeping well. Today I am writing about Habits. The root of the word “Habit can be found in the “Latin word “Habitus” which translates as a “state of being” or “condition”” In understanding “Habits” you will go into the “Science ” öf how Habits form and find out how we can make “”Good Habits from Bad Habits”. And find out how to Alter and Change for more good Habits that helps us to have better lives!

Habit formation is in our brain which is responsible for our movements, learning, and memory. When we do something pleasurable, our brain releases “”Dopamine, a chemical that makes us happy. This chemical aids our brain in remembering the action, encouraging us to repeat it. The more we do it, the stronger the connection becomes, leading to automatic habit formation. This allows our brain to conserve energy for other tasks. While habits can be stubborn, our brains are incredibly adaptable. This adaptability allows us to rewire our brains, helping us throw away old habits and create new ones. The science of habit formation is a test to this power to change, providing hope to those of us looking to stop bad habits and embrace better ones.

Habits: So What’s the Big Deal?

Now before we get into habit formation, let’s first understand what a ‘habit’ is. Habits are behaviors that are second nature to us, steering our thoughts, feelings, and actions daily. They help us manage life’s rollercoaster, making certain tasks so automatic that we can concentrate on the more challenging ones. The science behind habits and understand how our brain can be improving for the better. At the heart of habit formation lies a simple yet powerful cycle, This cycle has three things: the cue, the routine, and the reward. The cue triggers the habit, the routine is the behavior itself, and the reward provides the positive reinforcement.

Here’s where the sunshine, water, and fertile soil come into the picture:

Sunshine: This is your daily habit of skill building, your commitment to learning and developing relevant skills each day, regardless of whether it’s a weekday or a weekend, remember that you are chasing your dreams. When you truly chase something you love, it may be challenging but feels less like work and more like fun. When it stops being fun…take a moment and reevaluate if this is the dream you should be chasing.

Water: This is your networking habit, constantly interacting with industry peers and professionals, building relationships, and gaining insights about your dream job.

Fertile Soil: This is your mindset, fed by habits like positivity, resilience, and taking care of your well-being. Mind right, money right.

Without these habits, the dream of landing your dream job remains just that – a dream. But with these habits, your dream gets what it needs to grow and become (manifest) into reality

Before we get deep into the mechanics of growing those seeds of dreams, let’s understand the lay of the land. Our mind, the garden where we plant these seeds, is full of both fertile and empty patches. The fertile patches are where the right habits have been cultivated over time. The empty patches? They are the regions where bad habits have caused droughts or maybe storms. The trick is in tending to our mental garden so that more and more of it becomes fertile over time.

Are you still with me? let’s begin to plant.

Strategies for Cultivating Any Good Habit

As with any garden, you need the right tools to make it flourish. You can apply several strategies to develop good habits, from setting clear goals to breaking down habits into manageable steps and creating cues and rewards. So let me break it down for you.

  1. Set your sights: Identify the habits you want to cultivate and the goals you aspire to achieve. Make your goals SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
  2. Break it down: Break your new habit into manageable chunks. For instance, if you wish to exercise daily, start with just 10 minutes of daily activity.
  3. Cue yourself: Use cues to trigger your habit. Set a reminder on your phone, put your workout clothes at your bedside – find what works for you.
  4. Rewards are key: Reward yourself for sticking to your habit. Enjoy a healthy treat after a workout, or take a relaxing bath after a hard day’s work.
  5. Consistency: Practice makes perfect. The more you practice your habit, the easier it becomes.
  6. Pairing: Find ways to make the habit more enjoyable. Do you hate organizing your to-do list? Try pairing it with listening to your favorite podcast or audiobook. By linking an activity, you enjoy with a habit you’re trying to establish; the process becomes less of a chore and more of a fun routine.
  7. Maintain a journal: Documenting your journey helps track your progress and identify improvement areas.
  8. Lean on your squad: Share your goals and habits with friends and Family. Their support and encouragement will keep you motivated.
  9. Forgive your slip-ups: Everyone has off days. Don’t trip. It’s okay if you miss your habit once in a while. What matters is that you get back on track.
  10. Celebrate your wins: Every milestone, no matter how small, is a step in the
  11. right direction, and remember, the journey is just as important as the destination!
  12. Okay, you’ve stuck with me, we’ve walked through this mind garden, and you’ve begun to plant your seeds and cultivate your habits. But remember, this is only the beginning. As we wrap up, I want you to think back to that student I was talking to. The one with the worries about the impending “adult life.” Sounds a little more familiar now, doesn’t it?

You see, we all have these moments of anxiety, the times when the future seems as clear as a foggy day. But let me tell you something – it gets clearer. Every single day, as you nourish your seeds with sunshine, water, and fertile soil, the fog lifts a little more.

Every habit you build, every step you take brings you closer to your dream job, your dream life, your dream self. It won’t be an easy road – sometimes it’ll feel like you’re climbing Mount Everest. But remember, it’s not about reaching the peak in record time. It’s about soaking in the beauty of the climb, learning from the slips, and always, always moving forward. And when you stumble? Remember to dust yourself off, look back at how far you’ve come, and keep it pushing. Because you’re not just any gardener, you’re the gardener of your mind, the maker (curator) of your dreams, and the architect of your reality. With each good habit, you’re building a ladder to the stars, one step (rung) at a time.

Every dream starts as a seed – a tiny idea, an ambition, or a desire. It could be anything from wanting to start your own business to wanting to run a marathon. These are precious seeds, brimming with untapped potential. But remember, seeds need constant nurturing to sprout and grow. Without the right conditions, they stay dormant. So, how do we create those ideal conditions?

Let’s say the seed of your dream is to land your “dream job.” You’ve got your eye on the company you want to work for and envisioned your ideal role, and you can almost feel the vibe of stepping into that office. But how do you get there?

So keep planting, keep watering, and keep nurturing your garden. Don’t fear the barren patches – with time, care, and persistence, they, too, will bloom. In the grand scheme of things, our dreams might just be seeds, but oh, the trees they can grow into.

So, level up, embrace those good habits, and breathe life into your dreams. The world is waiting for your garden to bloom. In the journey of turning dreams into reality, every step forward, no matter how small, is a win. And in the end, isn’t that what it’s all about?

You can see from all these posts many many things you can do in order to have “Good Habits. And to change your “Habits into “Good ones. Hope you read up and follow some of them 🙂

I Hope Every Good habit you build, every step you take brings you closer to your, better life Now for the next few minutes, I want you to think about your dreams. Think about those dreams as seeds. Seeds full of potential, carrying the blueprints of the enormous trees within them. But alone, they remain just that, seeds. Now, think about your habits as the sunshine, the water, and the fertile soil that nurture the seeds.
