So many have appreciated and given a good response to my first article, End The Stigma ~ Discrimination Stops with You! that I am bringing you further information and proof that, we need to end the stigma on, “Mental Health” and see that those who need help in making their minds well, are free and able to seek medical help, and become well and be healthy and happy people, to be an asset to the progress of the society and the world. We all know that, the mind is also in our body and we need to have both our body and mind in good health to be able to lead a normal and happy life, for ourselves and to be of help to others. We do take care of our eyes, teeth and other parts of our body isn’t it. So why not the mind too ❤

What some people are not aware is that even as children, those who become unwell or have certain issues while growing up, they need to have medical help. Or they will grow up to be sick and confused adults, not knowing who they are and what they need to do in their lives and become a problem to their families, the society and the world!

All walks of life are concerned, and so many are working towards a society and a world of people who are healthy in their mind as well as the body. This includes even, “The Royal Family” who are openly working in public and even has a “Face Book page” dedicated to this cause, named, “Heads Together”!

Those of you who are reading, and seeing all these posts, now need to be able to feel that, “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” ~ “YOU ARE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING” ~ “YOU ARE VALUABLE” and do not be shy or afraid to go to a doctor, or some medical help anytime you have issues with your mind. “IT IS NOT BEING MAD” as some people think. “IT IS JUST THAT YOUR MIND ALSO HAS THE RIGHT TO BE A LITTLE ILL and NEED SOME MEDICATION and LOVING KINDNESS” ~ “IT IS YOUR LIFE AND IT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU” ~ “YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF” ❤

I hope you all enjoyed reading the first two articles on the chakras. I am taking a break and writing on a very important topic which is about the, “Stigma in Mental Health” The reason I thought of writing this topic is, now after almost 5 years since it was declared that, “I have come back to normal”, there are some who are still trying to classify me as unwell. The disappointing fact is, this is to do with some people whom I thought knew me very well, that are like family, that my eye went to this quote. These people seems not to have, “Any sort of experiences, knowledge and are clueless about mental health to know that, “I have come so far in attaining knowledge not only on mental health and also on other matters in life. And now that, “I am mentally healthy and also a motivator” I cannot understand how some can see me otherwise!

I have written before too, that millions world over are going through depression and other mental health problems. And the world Health Organisation has stated that depression will be the biggest cause of health burden by 2030!

In Australia alone, one is seven experience major depression in their life time. But 70% of them will not seek treatment. One of the main reasons for this is the stigma. This is actually common almost world over. But why does it have to be different from being physically sick?

When there are even Royalty and World leaders who support and work towards improving mental health and acknowledge mental illness are also, just like physical illnesses, there are some others even highly educated, who are foolish enough to be ignorant of what mental illnesses are. And this is what is causing the stigma and preventing people seeking medical help to get themselves better!

There are so many who suffer from various physical illnesses. They do get better and overcome them, even cancer goes into remission and then they go about as normal human beings. Then Why? when the mind becomes ill and becomes well and/or goes into remission they can never get over the label as mentally ill? Mind is also part of the body, it is not outside floating somewhere! Why cannot people as human beings with good brain power cannot think of this?

As someone who has completely overcome, why I am writing is, to do my duty even in a small way, in standing up for those who are going through their own problems. As, if as many as those who can speak out on behalf of the people who are in need of support and enlighten the society, the world what mental issues are, the world will be a better place with more healthy and happy people 🙂

Are you ready to support? To stand up? Or are you one of those who try to push and see others fall? But the fact is, we are all connected. All of us are energy and one goes down it affects all the others like the ripples in the water. Why is it that some are unable to support others and see them rise up? As, “We Rise by Lifting Others” Are you Ready to support to, “Stop the Stigma”? We are all soul brothers and sisters. One family that belongs to each other!

Hello To All My Dear Readers 🙂

Hope all of you are well. I have not been here for a while, as I have been busy writing some other articles. So I am sorry I have not been visiting some of your blogs too. I am re-writing this article as so many have missed the old articles. We are all aware in life everyday is not the same. We keep on changing and moving ahead. Even if we do not want to change, we do grow older by the day and changes happen physically and mentally, as well as the whole environment changes around us. That is the norm of life. With that there comes challenges over and over again for us to learn how to face and overcome them, to become stronger and wiser to move on in life to the next level 🙂

Challenge 3

Once you have overcome a challenge or challenges, you need to learn from them and organize yourself, to make sure the same things do not cause problems again. For this you need to, “Let Go” of the things and people that do not work for you anymore. Letting go usually, does not mean taking a bag and going away as so many posts show. As in life you cannot leave those who are dependent on you and walk off just like that. What it means mostly is, “Letting go from the Mind” and changing and adjusting to those people and situations that you have to live in, to fit in better 🙂

Letting Go is a process. As in life from the moment we are born we are Letting Go isn’t it? First of all we let go of the womb that we grew for 9 months and entered the, seems like harsh world with a bang. From that time on wards, everything that we were born with, our hair, skin keeps on shedding and being renewed without our knowledge. Letting go is a, “Natural Process for us to, “Let Go” of the unwanted/old and move on to new that works for us” Its just like discarding our clothes that become too small for us as we grow on to our next size. Not only us it happens to animals too. Like reptiles, they too shed their whole length of outer skin from time to time. The eagle sheds all its feathers and even the beak after 40 years to renews it self for another 30 years. Then why is this, Letting Go become such a painful process ?

This is when, “We are Forced to Let Go”, “Before we are ready” Just like pulling our hair or teeth before time. In Nature, there is always, a Time for everything. When we have to, or Forced to give up anything or people before we are ready only, it becomes painful” So there is always a, “Time to Let Go” if not it is difficult and painful. But sometimes so happens in life, whether we like or not we do have to let go as we need to move on and holding on doesn’t help. And once you accept life becomes much easier and pleasant. As you have less people and things to trouble you unnecessarily!!!

Then how to make life a little easier for us, living in this complicated world? Well the most important word that comes in is, “To be prepared to Let Go” When we know our work is done and we are no more needed. Hard? Yes 🙂 But it is the reality. When people have out grown you means they have changed their vibrations, hence some of their personality and their energies. So they no longer able to fit in with the same people and live under the same roof, doing the same things. All that belongs to another era, which is called by the name, “The Past” Letting Go even if it is for the good for us is very difficult, but sometimes we have to, and once we do the relief is great. By letting go if the past you make room for the new to come in, that will ultimately lead you to new places and people whom you fit in better and belong with, to lead much satisfied and happier and fulfilled life 🙂

To All My Dear Readers🙂

Its exactly one year since I started my blog. Since then I have grown, changed and moved on and keep on moving ahead. …. every time I write it seems I am turning another page. And this time it’s a whole big chapter. But before I begin again, and go on to the new one, I need to finish off this one🙂
Since last year although I was going ahead, it was mostly ending the things that was not working for me anymore. For instance moving away from being an English Tutor and working towards mental health was not happening as quickly as I wanted. I found that although you finish off with what you don’t want to do anymore, the new things do not come immediately. When one door closes, another does not open immediately always and I guess there is a meaning to it !!!
It was moving on from one scene to another and although it was not all that hard work still physically I did not feel as fit as I liked and needed to relax and re-energize.This happens with change, as the mind needs “Time to adjust to a different pattern” Although working from home sounds easy, when you go to do it, you find it’s a whole big change, a different pattern a different routine to get used to. There were other matters that challenged me and distracted me from the course I was doing, to the extent that got me anxious and was wondering if I had taken on too much too soon. Patience is not one of my virtues and all along I have had this need to move on with most of the new things that happen. And it’s continuing even now. One fact is as you keep on changing and evolving, what so many do not realize is that, “Your Energy/Vibrations changes within you” These can be seen outwardly too, as accordingly you tend to alter the way you dress, eat and do many other things differently !!!

This can be that you have gone back to who you were before everything fell apart, or you have moved on to a better way of thinking and doing things more positively. For me ? Its both. Looking back I can now see what happened to me. I drowned from all the put downs, the stress and got lost. Now, I am found. And yes sometimes it comes up so strong. Why ? What did I do wrong ? Why was it wrong to be me ? I did nothing wrong. I worked hard, very hard, towards the welfare of so many. So many benefited from My Strength, Assets and Abilities, and then I lost ?  The society the outside world does not see, or they see what they want. Sometimes people, “Wait to see others fall” as they think someone else has more or they are born rich, talented. Little realizing that all are given Gifts/Talents of their own to make use and Rise. But some of them decided to put me down, but in the process they fell. That is how life is. What goes around comes around, Good or Bad. “Now I have risen” I have built up on that very foundation, I am even a stronger person, who will Stand Tall, never to go down in any storm again. As long as you do not do harm or the wrong things, God, The Higher Powers. The Universe work for you🙂

There is a sad part to this too. As then some of the people who are with you when you change no longer in the same energy field as you. Its not you are higher or anyone is lower. Its just that you have moved on to another energy level. Yes but that doesn’t mean everyone goes away completely. Even otherwise all those we come across even family, doesn’t stay with us all the time, everyday, one will go mad !!! Be it family or friends, being human beings we can rationalize and come to terms with another’s change and accept. No one changes from a human being to an animal. There are reasons to change. This is called the survival of the fittest. A human being changes according to how he or she can manage to fit in and live peacefully in an ever changing world. This has to be Understood by all intelligent human beings. That is why we are humans. Because we have brains and mind to think and rationalize !!!

With all these roller coaster life I have gone through, some have Not understood and moved away, despite trying to explain. In life you lose some and gain some we have to accept that. But then right now there is a Wonderful group of people around me. In real life where I have worked and moving around. Friends and family who have always stood by me, if not I would not be writing here. If I was not found, on my escapes suddenly into the nights running in fear, without knowing why there is No Deepa Nilamani today, and I am most grateful to them. I cannot imagine myself what I had become. Somehow I guess I had to live to tell the story for so many others for them to know and have hope🙂
Yes there is a new family growing now, the I net family. Face Book and now many Bloggers have and are connecting daily. Some are very young, who have started to look up to me for strength. So many talk to me. Some have gone through worse and my heart aches for their pain. But they take comfort from what I write and take Strength from My Strength. We all have begun to share and support each other. Its a very satisfying feeling that I can give Hope and Strength to others, from the darkness I have gone through. So that they too can Rise Up and pull another out of their darkness. And so the chain goes on !!!
I am Thankful and Grateful to everyone who has become My Family now, A Soul Family, brothers and sisters. Sons and daughters. And together we go on, “Lighting other’s Paths, Comforting and giving Strength when another is weak. As in Life we all go down at certain times and we all need a helping hand to pull us up. We are One❤

Hello to All My Dear Readers 🙂

Thanking everyone who read and follow, and especially seeing many of you have liked, gives me great satisfaction and encouragement to do better. This is sort of a continuation from the last article as I touched on rejection. Please excuse me for taking a little time in writing answers to some of your requests on, how to deal with it. I have to get into that mindset to write. Slowly my mind begin to fill up with ideas and then, suddenly I get this great need to write it, to free my mind of it. Its like baking a cake. Once done you have to take it out of the oven, and of course you can’t eat the article, but you can read and share 😛
For those of you who are reading for the first time, you have to know that what I am writing is, “Mostly my own first hand knowledge through my experiences gone/going through in life” and of course in my mind there is knowledge from far back as I can remember even as a child, books the internet and also what I absorb/observe from other peoples lives as well. We all know we do not nor cannot have all round knowledge and experiences in every aspect of life. And this is why we read and learn from others too, to expand our knowledge and learn to improve our lives there by, “Pass on to others, for their benefit” 🙂
Why I needed some time was, I was thinking exactly, “How to counteract rejection. As rejection is something we all face at all times in various ways and from various people and situations, right from the beginning of our lives from our childhood, not just from one person or once or twice” Also we know all these are challenges that, “All human beings go through at some stage or other in their lives”, as I have written again and again before too. Why ?
By overcoming difficulties we become stronger, so that we become stronger to face the challenges life throws at us, and learn to live a more happier and a better quality of life in Peace and Harmony ❤

So what does rejection do exactly ? Rejection affects us very badly. The pain you feel in your mind, is also felt by the body/physically. It has been shown scientifically that the regions of the brain activated in response to rejection are the same as those activated by physical pain. Rejection also has a negative impact on the immune system and destroys our sense of self-worth/self-esteem. And this leaves us insecure and with a diminished sense of belonging !!!
What do we do then ? First make sure/clarify that we have not misunderstood what ever maybe. Be it a person or a situation. If not then we need to find the antidote. What is that 😀

The antidote to rejection is, “Acceptance, Appreciation, Understanding, Caring and above all Love/Loving kindness” We need to find people and situations where these are found. But sometimes it may be you are alone or isolated. Or the exact times you want you cannot find such things/people. In that case we can do things on our own too, that we like, to make ourselves Happy. These can be anything according to each persons personality. In my case I love reading, listening to music, gardening, chakra dancing, colouring for relaxation/mindfulness, even house work as I love to keep a neat house and cooking for others. Doing things for others when you can, gives a very big satisfaction, “In giving you receive” Also for me writing all this ~ knowing so many of you read, appreciate and benefit 🙂

Even if you have others, having some, “Me time” is very important. It can be meditation, a relaxing bath, or just sitting in nature quietly to free you mind. When all what is going on in your life is in you head, it gets to a point where your mind gets, “Saturated ~ its like you have over eaten” This is called by the all famous name, “Stress” and you need some quiet time to relax – to detox your mind. Its just like clearing your house its, de-cluttering your mind !!!

Silence. The best treatment for stress. You don’t really need to meditate. The meaning of meditation is, being mindful all the time of what you are doing and saying. Some can really meditate and find peace. But if you sit in silence and relax your mind that is more than enough. Some even sit near the sea and watch the waves go up and down. When you mind relaxes the whole body slows down. Then you fall in line with the beat of The Universe/Mother Nature. As we are all part of her, why ?
What ever the colour, race or religion, in the end we all join her “Its Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust” If all people think of this the world will be a much better place to live isn’t it !!!

Hello To All My Dear Readers. 🙂

I started this blog to spread the message on mental wellness. We all go through some form of difficulties in Life. And I too have gone through mine. Due to the ups and downs I went through one after the other, suddenly the last incident pushed me to a break down, and I became a victim of depression. For fifteen years I battled depression as well as bipolar disorder. Since  middle of June 2014 I was cleared from counselling, being said that I had come back to normal by my psychiatrist. A word I never expected to have heard in my entire life. Suddenly the clouds had moved away, and out came the sun. The world opened up to me 🙂
Knowing what it is be depressed, and because of the stigma attached to it, many do not want to go for treatment, making it worse and even ending their valuable lives. Getting out of long term depression is like a miracle. There were so many who asked how and also my doctor encouraged me to write, for the benefit of others. The reason I started this blog is, I want to show the world that depression can be overcome and even Bipolar disorder can be controlled. And being mentally ill is no different to being physically ill. As mind and body are together. Mental illness also can be cured or controlled and they also can be normal as everyone to live with dignity in the world 🙂
I am studying psychology ~ counselling and psychotherapy, at the moment to give back the knowledge and experiences I acquired. But make note that, this is not exactly counselling, but this is, “My Journey on how I overcame depression and mood disorder” I hope all those reading my blog will learn something new, or remember what you already know. And make use of them to lead a better and happier life 🙂

P.S This is my latest update. It’s almost three years since I wrote this, and today it’s the 20th of May 2018. I have completely recovered and living free of depression now, that means it has gone into remission 🙂
I will be updating some of the old articles with my new knowledge and added experiences and also for the benefit of those who are new to the blog, as well as to confirm that it is possible to overcome and become completely well too. Now that my mood is even more uplifted, my choice of colours and posts have changed too accordingly. My eye goes to new pictures that resonate with how I am feeling now that I am feeling very much positive than when I was feeling unwell.. It does happen. You too can come out into the light and live Happily 🙂
