Hello To All My Readers Followers and Blogging Friends ❤
I hope all of you are keeping well. Today I am writing about Habits. The root of the word “Habit can be found in the “Latin word “Habitus” which translates as a “state of being” or “condition”” In understanding “Habits” you will go into the “Science ” öf how Habits form and find out how we can make “”Good Habits from Bad Habits”. And find out how to Alter and Change for more good Habits that helps us to have better lives!
Habit formation is in our brain which is responsible for our movements, learning, and memory. When we do something pleasurable, our brain releases “”Dopamine, a chemical that makes us happy. This chemical aids our brain in remembering the action, encouraging us to repeat it. The more we do it, the stronger the connection becomes, leading to automatic habit formation. This allows our brain to conserve energy for other tasks. While habits can be stubborn, our brains are incredibly adaptable. This adaptability allows us to rewire our brains, helping us throw away old habits and create new ones. The science of habit formation is a test to this power to change, providing hope to those of us looking to stop bad habits and embrace better ones.
Habits: So What’s the Big Deal?
Now before we get into habit formation, let’s first understand what a ‘habit’ is. Habits are behaviors that are second nature to us, steering our thoughts, feelings, and actions daily. They help us manage life’s rollercoaster, making certain tasks so automatic that we can concentrate on the more challenging ones. The science behind habits and understand how our brain can be improving for the better. At the heart of habit formation lies a simple yet powerful cycle, This cycle has three things: the cue, the routine, and the reward. The cue triggers the habit, the routine is the behavior itself, and the reward provides the positive reinforcement.
Here’s where the sunshine, water, and fertile soil come into the picture:
Sunshine: This is your daily habit of skill building, your commitment to learning and developing relevant skills each day, regardless of whether it’s a weekday or a weekend, remember that you are chasing your dreams. When you truly chase something you love, it may be challenging but feels less like work and more like fun. When it stops being fun…take a moment and reevaluate if this is the dream you should be chasing.
Water: This is your networking habit, constantly interacting with industry peers and professionals, building relationships, and gaining insights about your dream job.
Fertile Soil: This is your mindset, fed by habits like positivity, resilience, and taking care of your well-being. Mind right, money right.
Without these habits, the dream of landing your dream job remains just that – a dream. But with these habits, your dream gets what it needs to grow and become (manifest) into reality
Before we get deep into the mechanics of growing those seeds of dreams, let’s understand the lay of the land. Our mind, the garden where we plant these seeds, is full of both fertile and empty patches. The fertile patches are where the right habits have been cultivated over time. The empty patches? They are the regions where bad habits have caused droughts or maybe storms. The trick is in tending to our mental garden so that more and more of it becomes fertile over time.
Are you still with me? let’s begin to plant.
Strategies for Cultivating Any Good Habit
As with any garden, you need the right tools to make it flourish. You can apply several strategies to develop good habits, from setting clear goals to breaking down habits into manageable steps and creating cues and rewards. So let me break it down for you.
Set your sights: Identify the habits you want to cultivate and the goals you aspire to achieve. Make your goals SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
Break it down: Break your new habit into manageable chunks. For instance, if you wish to exercise daily, start with just 10 minutes of daily activity.
Cue yourself: Use cues to trigger your habit. Set a reminder on your phone, put your workout clothes at your bedside – find what works for you.
Rewards are key: Reward yourself for sticking to your habit. Enjoy a healthy treat after a workout, or take a relaxing bath after a hard day’s work.
Consistency: Practice makes perfect. The more you practice your habit, the easier it becomes.
Pairing: Find ways to make the habit more enjoyable. Do you hate organizing your to-do list? Try pairing it with listening to your favorite podcast or audiobook. By linking an activity, you enjoy with a habit you’re trying to establish; the process becomes less of a chore and more of a fun routine.
Maintain a journal: Documenting your journey helps track your progress and identify improvement areas.
Lean on your squad: Share your goals and habits with friends and Family. Their support and encouragement will keep you motivated.
Forgive your slip-ups: Everyone has off days. Don’t trip. It’s okay if you miss your habit once in a while. What matters is that you get back on track.
Celebrate your wins: Every milestone, no matter how small, is a step in the
right direction, and remember, the journey is just as important as the destination!
Okay, you’ve stuck with me, we’ve walked through this mind garden, and you’ve begun to plant your seeds and cultivate your habits. But remember, this is only the beginning. As we wrap up, I want you to think back to that student I was talking to. The one with the worries about the impending “adult life.” Sounds a little more familiar now, doesn’t it?
You see, we all have these moments of anxiety, the times when the future seems as clear as a foggy day. But let me tell you something – it gets clearer. Every single day, as you nourish your seeds with sunshine, water, and fertile soil, the fog lifts a little more.
Every habit you build, every step you take brings you closer to your dream job, your dream life, your dream self. It won’t be an easy road – sometimes it’ll feel like you’re climbing Mount Everest. But remember, it’s not about reaching the peak in record time. It’s about soaking in the beauty of the climb, learning from the slips, and always, always moving forward. And when you stumble? Remember to dust yourself off, look back at how far you’ve come, and keep it pushing. Because you’re not just any gardener, you’re the gardener of your mind, the maker (curator) of your dreams, and the architect of your reality. With each good habit, you’re building a ladder to the stars, one step (rung) at a time.
Every dream starts as a seed – a tiny idea, an ambition, or a desire. It could be anything from wanting to start your own business to wanting to run a marathon. These are precious seeds, brimming with untapped potential. But remember, seeds need constant nurturing to sprout and grow. Without the right conditions, they stay dormant. So, how do we create those ideal conditions?
Let’s say the seed of your dream is to land your “dream job.” You’ve got your eye on the company you want to work for and envisioned your ideal role, and you can almost feel the vibe of stepping into that office. But how do you get there?
So keep planting, keep watering, and keep nurturing your garden. Don’t fear the barren patches – with time, care, and persistence, they, too, will bloom. In the grand scheme of things, our dreams might just be seeds, but oh, the trees they can grow into.
So, level up, embrace those good habits, and breathe life into your dreams. The world is waiting for your garden to bloom. In the journey of turning dreams into reality, every step forward, no matter how small, is a win. And in the end, isn’t that what it’s all about?
You can see from all these posts many many things you can do in order to have “Good Habits. And to change your “Habits into “Good ones. Hope you read up and follow some of them 🙂

Hello To, All My Readers Followers and Blogging Friends ❤
Hope you all have started the New Year well and in Good Health. I thought of writing about Psychology of Happiness very fitting to begin the New Year,
Happiness, in psychology, a state of emotional well-being that a person experiences either in a narrow sense, when good things happen in a specific moment, or more broadly, as a positive evaluation of one’s life and accomplishments overall—that is, subjective well-being. Happiness and also from other positive emotions (such as affection, excitement, and interest). This emotion often co-occurs with a specific facial expression: the smile.
The different meanings People from around the world tend to have a similar concept of happiness and can recognize happiness in others. As a result, the specific emotion of happiness is often included as one of a small number of basic emotions that cannot be broken down into more fundamental emotions and that may combine to form other, more complex emotions (in fact, it is sometimes the only positive emotion that is considered to be basic). Thus, happiness is an important concept for researchers who study.
An entire field of research has developed around the more inclusive concept of subjective well-being, which is characterized by a broad collection of happiness. As one might expect, people who are happy in this way tend to experience frequent positive emotions. This broader form of happiness is not purely emotional, however: it also has a cognitive component. When happy people are asked to think back on the conditions and events in their lives, they tend to evaluate these conditions and events positively. Thus, happy people report being satisfied with their lives and the various domains in their lives. Interestingly, these different components of happiness do not always co-occur within the same person. It is possible that someone could acknowledge that the conditions of his or her life are good ones. and experience satisfaction with life because their work is worthwhile. Similarly, people who spend lots of time engaging pleasures may experience frequent momentary positive emotions Subjective well-being researchers are interested in the various factors that influence these distinct components.
Psychologists are interested in happiness for two reasons. First, psychologists study happiness because laypeople are interested in happiness. When people from around the world are asked to list the things that are most important to them, happiness consistently tops the list. People rank attaining happiness as being more important than acquiring money, they can help people achieve this goal of being happy by studying the factors that are associated with happiness.
A second reason why psychologists study happiness is because a person’s evaluative responses to the world may provide information about the basic characteristics of human nature. One of the most basic principles guiding psychological theory is that people and animals are motivated to approach things in the world that cause pleasure. Presumably, this behavior results from adaptive mechanisms that guide organisms toward resources and human beings have a basic need to experience strong and supportive social relationships. They point to evidence from the field of subjective well-being to support their claim—a person’s social relationships are reliably linked to his or her happiness. Thus, cataloging the correlates of happiness should provide important information about the features of human nature.
Perhaps more importantly, is when you try to assess happiness in a variety of different ways, these measures all seem to converge on the same answer. For instance, when researchers ask people to provide self-reports of happiness, they tend to agree with informant-reports of happiness—that is, ratings provided by friends and acquaintances. Furthermore, psychological tests—such as those that ask subjects to list as many positive memories as they can within a minute—may also determine who is happy without even asking for an explicit judgment of happiness, and, again, these measures tend to agree with self-reports. When You track people’s levels of happiness, most people report being in mildly positive moods most of the time. people to rate their overall life satisfaction, most people report scores that are above neutral. This research finding is not limited to relatively well-off samples (like the college students who are often asked to participate in psychological studies). Instead, it has been replicated in many different populations in many nations around the world. Thus, when one study the correlates of happiness, they are usually looking for factors that distinguish the very happy from the mildly happy.
Predictors of happiness
Psychologists have arrived at several surprising conclusions in their search for predictors of happiness. Many of the factors that may first come to mind do not seem to play a major role in happiness.
Health also plays a role in subjective well-being, Subjective reports (such as a person’s own evaluation of his or her health) tend to correlate more strongly. factor that has been most closely linked to high levels of happiness is social relationships. Research consistently shows that people who have strong social relationships tend to report higher levels of well-being. As with other domains, subjective reports of relationship quality and relationship satisfaction tend to exhibit the highest correlations with subjective well-being. But even more objective measures, including the number of close friends a person has, the number of social organizations to which the person belongs, and the amount of time the person spends with others, all show small to moderate correlations with happiness.
Other determinants
Religious people tend to report greater happiness. Factors such as intelligence, education, and job prestige are also only slightly related to well-being. Happiness does not seem to change dramatically over the course of the life span.
People who are outgoing, assertive, and sociable tend to report more intense and more frequent positive emotions. The links between happiness and traits (including factors such as optimism and self-esteem) show that personality plays a strong role in people’s subjective well-being.
Functions
Although people tend to think about happiness as an outcome that they desire rather than as a tool that can be used to achieve additional goals, psychologists have begun to ask what function happiness serves. One of the best-known theories, 1998, that the function of happiness (or more precisely, the function of positive emotions) is to broaden one’s thinking and to build one’s resources. According to this theory, positive emotions lead people to think creatively and to try new things. As a result, happy people can develop new ways to approach the world, new interests, new social relationships, and even new physical skills. All of these effects lead to positive outcomes in people’s lives.
